JOIN THE DANCE COMPANY!
The Dance Company program is a very rewarding experience and many students stay in the program until they graduate High School. We feel that students get the full dance experience in the Company program as well as develop strong dance technique and performance skills. Many Company members continue to dance in University and some are attending post-secondary dance programs to pursue dance and performing arts careers!
Company students are required to attend a Ballet and Dance Company class each week. Junior B and all Senior Dance Company members are also required to attend a Jazz class. Many students also take additional classes such as Hip Hop and Musical Theatre to be skilled in all dance styles (these classes are optional).
In the Dance Company class students work with professional dancers and learn diverse modern and contemporary choreography. Company members will perform in the Dance Company Showcase at the end of the year.
The Introduction to Dance Company program integrates Ballet and Dance Company in one class. This program is a great introduction for our young dancers into the Dance Company program. The program is a 1 hour and 30 minute class once a week.
The Junior A and Junior B Dance Company programs are for beginner and experienced dancers ages 8-12 yrs. We highly recommend that students join the Company program when they are younger, as it is more difficult to become integrated into the Senior Dance Company programs without previous Ballet and Jazz training. The Junior A Company members (age 8-10 yrs) are required to take 2 classes; Ballet and Company, however the optional Jazz class is recommended. Junior B members are required to take Ballet, Jazz and Company class.
Senior A, Senior B and Advanced Company programs are recommended for students with previous dance experience (in Ballet and Jazz) however students with little or no dance experience are welcome to apply. In the Senior Company programs students take a minimum of 3 or 4 classes per week (Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Company). Registration in these programs needs to be approved by the teachers unless you were a Company member last year. Please call the office, email or speak with the teachers during the In-Person Registration days about registering for the Senior Companies. If students are not ready to participate in the Dance Company, we will recommend classes for them to take to become prepared. Previous Company members can simply register for the Company program we recommended for them.
